Welcome back to the world of Dan.
He has been away for many months. But not anywhere fancy, just unable to set aside that dedicated time and place to sit and write for writing's sake about biographical details and...hang on, I have to turn Joanna Newsom off. It's impossible to write with a six year old girl wailing into your ear. It's almost as bad as trying to write with rap music in your ear. You tend to find yourself unwittingly transcribing swear-ridden nonsense.
Ahh, generic electronica. That's better. Much better.
So, what's been up? Well I finally have the internet nestling quietly in the corner of my room, aching its potential every time I cast a weary glance in its general direction. It screams many things to me, mostly MUSIC, BLOG, EMAIL, THE WORLD and OH SHIT I'M COVERED IN VIRUSES.
But, it's all good. All good.
Ok, so I downloaded Limewire to get a whole heap of totally illegal music, and it is amazing in principle but it's actually complete rubbish. If you type in anything remotely desirable (and therefore probably quite obscure) you get about 6 results. And because they probably belong to equally pasty-faced geeks who also have to haunt the dark corners of bedrooms, they can't afford a better connection than a 'last-century' modem because they spend all of their money on marijuana and cakes. And this all means it takes about 4 hours for me to download one song. Grrr.
E.g, I'm looking for Smog stuff at the moment. 13 people online at the moment have Cold Blooded Old Times (which means it would be quicker to download) but frankly I already PAID for that album. About 5 years ago. So that's (you guessed it) no use at all. Plus they only have it cos it's on the freaking High Fidelity soundtrack. What a bunch of try hards. Ha!
Think I'm gonna have to start searching for Coldplay or something.
Sorry, I don't know what's happened to my tone these days. What am I wingeing about? It's ace.
Well, it's the time of year when everything's a little bit festive. I find myself drinking every evening as there's just so many damn parties and functions to attend. In case anyone reading this before saturday is someone I know and has no previous engagements, we're having one at our house saturday night. I would put my address on here but frankly I'm not totally insane.
Well, I'm busy at the moment. Doing Ouseburn related things. I shan't go into it here. Not now. Not now.
Everything sounds better when you say it twice. Twice. Hmm.
I'm absolutely itching to travel. I just fancing jazzing around the world basically. I got some shit to see. Like all of it. And like everyone. However there are a few issues with this. Such as money, girlfriends, career plans, friends. But as I have none of these, this is less of a problem. I can just hitchhike.
I lied. I do have some of those things. Just not enough of the money.
Ok, I've forgotten how to blog. Let's see if I can't be more coherent next time.
