Well, it’s a slightly tense atmosphere here in Bhagsu, Dharmsala. A few nights ago there was an almighty hail storm and a thunder and lightning show of proportions I am unfamiliar with. It was huge. As I sat on the covered balcony of a guesthouse, we had front row seats to an all-out electricity attack on the valley. The sky would go from a clouded black to an x-ray white and then to black and then we would see panoramic bolts licking their way across the sky to slap the mountain hard on the shoulder. It went on all night. I managed to find a relatively rain-quiet spot to make the trek back to my room to enjoy the remainder of the storm from the comfort of my blankets and the pages of Life of Pi which I just started reading. Nice book.
And the next day talk was going round of a tourist girl who was alone in the nearby mountain peak (it’s a common short four hour trek) during the storm and hasn’t been seen since. Many rumours, various attempts to go back and find her but nothing doing. And yesterday she was found dead. It's very sad.
