Missions agains

You find me megabussed, double-flighted and a bit wined in Effie's mother's house near Tel Aviv, Israel.

After a double day mission involving sleep deprivation, snatched rest on an airport floor and Lisa Stansfield on repeat on the flight ("Been around the world and I I I, I can't find my baby" - best leave it then) I made it to the promised holy land.

Yesterday evening, before the flight, as we drank a pint in a Wetherspoons in London with DJ Semi Rob and his lass, Elena, a rather strange thing happened. We were peering into the small screen on Effie's camera, while Effie was outside on the phone. She then comes rushing in, shaking, and informs us that she just had to batter some guy on the street to get her bag back. The same bag containing travellers cheques, I-River, wallet. But mostly her passport.

It seems that while the three of us were amusing ourselves, watching video clips of an educated man in a hat prancing around a living room singing "my rose has left me..." some scumsack was busy lifting from beneath our range of vision, Effie's rather valuable bag. She was sitting outside on the phone and just watched the aforementioned shitsandwich waltz past her with her prized possessions and her ability to leave the country. Without thinking she was on her feet cursing the guy before catching up with him, ripping his shirt and demanding her bag back. He scarpered and she kept her shit.

One wonders if she's brave or stupid. Perhaps both. I thank the lord that in this case she was both otherwise I'd be writing a very different post from an internet cafe in London, crying over wasted flights and lost belongings.

So I am on a mission to meet up with a bunch of India connections and get a good touring of Israel. And no, I don't plan to take photos of the Gaza Strip. Just beaches and Tel Aviv and so on.

So, the record label I forgot to mention that I co-conceived with Adam and Rory is (for me) on hold, as are the various recording projects on the go. But I only plan to be here till 10th October. Back in time to see the weather turn. I'm sure busking will be a bit tricky in minus conditions.

Enough, I must go explore the capital..
