I await a jam. A jam will be here soon. Two new people, bass guitar, electric guitar. Lulling chords into the atmosphere, awaiting camaraderie, new notes, tapped beats. Someone sings – quietly, exploring words and rhymes about boredom and creation. An old keyboard is found. A brief interlude as it is plugged into an amplifier. Soon scrappy beats and random organs join the cacophony and the tempo increases. Disregarded smacks and bummed fills ain’t noticed as the rhythm barges forward. All we hear is a group of sounds entwined and bulging for attention, combined with enhancing inhales. Keep going!
The melody shifts and crawls to find new expressions, a new time signature. Invented gaps and stalls develop to readjust the mood and the calm.
And so the jam continues. Unafraid of irritable neighbours or laughing passers by. We enjoy the feeling.
